Comparison of conventional and Lorentz transmission electron microscopy in magnetic imaging of permanent magnets

چکیده

Magnetization structures in magnetic materials are usually imaged dedicated Lorentz transmission electron microscopes. Compared to conventional microscopes, the field of objective lens at sample is removed by replacing with a below sample. While this modification critical for soft-magnetic whose state affected strong lens, we propose that not necessary permanent magnets such as Sm–Co and Nd–Fe–B. Conventional microscopes compared imaging divergent convergent domain walls Sm(Co,Fe,Cu,Zr)7.7 magnet. Both techniques provide an almost identical resolution accuracy measurement domain-wall width parameter using focal-series walls. It further demonstrated both can be utilized analyze intensity profile From this, product thickness induction extracted. These results illustrate used image comparable which make experiments significantly more accessible wider scientific community.

Conventional transmission electron microscopy

Researchers have used transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to make contributions to cell biology for well over 50 years, and TEM continues to be an important technology in our field. We briefly present for the neophyte the components of a TEM-based study, beginning with sample preparation through imaging of the samples. We point out the limitations of TEM and issues to be considered during ex...

Imaging Perpendicular Magnetic Domains in Plan-view Using Lorentz Transmission Electron Microscopy

The study of magnetic materials requires an understanding of not only their magnetic properties, but also their microstructure. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is a powerful characterization instrument because of its ability to provide both microstructural and magnetic information. In TEM, electrons can be deflected by a Lorentz force created by a magnetic field from a magnetic material....

Recent Progress in Lorentz Transmission Electron Microscopy

After a brief review of the basic methods of Lorentz transmission electron microscopy (LTEM), including the Transport-of-Intensity formalism for phase reconstruction, we present a few examples of the application of LTEM to multiferroic materials, in this case ferromagnetic shape memory alloys. We discuss observations of magnetic domain walls pinned to anti-phase boundaries in Ni2MnGa, and domai...
